Adult education & life-long learning

Communication is more than just language.

Many people wish to improve their communicative potential in order to communicate more professionally and with greater confidence. This is true regardless of their level of proficiency and whether or not they are native speakers. Although they can express themselves well, they encounter difficulties and problems in how they present themselves and their expertise, specialist knowledge, linguistic ability etc.

The concept of Go like Silk enhances participants’ communicative and creative confidence on an emotional-cognitive level. It enables them to analyse different communication situations based on the principle of Kindness Communication and also helps boost their linguistic competence. This meta skill increases their awareness of their own and others’ communicative needs so that they can communicate with more clarity and deliberation. In this way, participants explore and enrich their individual communication profile and learn to rely on authenticity as a reliable communication policy.

Content & goals

Our participants learn to …

  • identify their own communicative needs, skills and goals so that they can make informed decisions on how they want to communicate in different situations
  • become aware of the skills and capabilities that they routinely put into practice as well as their implicit, non-professionalised knowledge
  • communicate specialist knowledge to different audiences
  • design presentations that incorporate both professionalism and passion
  • become aware of non-verbal aspects in communication and their role in avoiding and managing conflicts and discrimination
  • respect linguistic-cultural diversity
  • develop awareness for hierarchies and power differentials as well as how they are manifested in communication
  • gain greater awareness of how their own stereotype-based assumptions in regard to gender, age, appearance etc. affect communication and overall relational dynamics
  • specifically for German: examine German as it is used in the Austrian context, such as typical behaviour patterns, communicative expectations and specific cultural conventions
  • specifically for English: deal professionally with the requirements of English as a global language, such as different politeness conventions, pronunciations (accents) and culturally specific knowledge repertoires

Our content, methods and goals are all based on the principles of Kindness Communication. We adapt our focus to accommodate specific training goals and target groups.
